RFQ Technical Specifications of fiber optic distribution boxes for FTTH Network

1. OBJECT

The purpose of this document is to define the technical specifications that must be metthe different elements involved in the RFQ of fiber optic connection box based on the standard GPON and in accordance with the vertical agreement between operators.

2. DEFINITIONS

User connections - Connections: individual optical cabling of theDispersion from Optical Termination Box to Network Terminal Points(PTR) - Optical Terminal Points (PTO) - Optical rosettes. It can be composedfor a single section in the case of single-fiber cable connections or of several sections inthe case of multi-fiber cables with Junction Boxes. Optical Derivation Box: element of the Dispersion Network for segregation offibers in multi-fiber cable connections Optical Terminal Box (CTO): boundary element between the distribution anddispersion and connecting both Divisor - Splitter: passive element for the distribution of the optical signal of the network FTTH: Fiber to the Home, fiber to the home Interior infrastructure: section of the civil works network or infrastructures, located in theprivate domain, through which the different parts of the network will run to the computersliabilities and between them Patch cord - Patch cord - Fiber cord: monofiber cables connectorized in theirends with reinforced cover to link the Distribution Network with theDispersion in the Distribution Panel of the Optical Terminal Box Distribution panel: connectorized distributor in which the connections of theuser and to which the operators' networks will be connected. It acts as a point offlexibility for the connection of operators' networks. It is located in the interior ofone or more of the elements that make up the Optical Terminal Boxes Network Terminal Point (PTR) - Optical Terminal Point (PTO) - Optical rosette: elementsconnectorized ends of the fiber network, located at the user's home, for thetermination of user rush Dispersion Network: section of the fo network between the Terminal BoxesOptical and Network Terminal Points (PTR) - Optical Terminal Points (PTO) -Optical rosettes Distribution Network: section of the fo network comprised between the trunk network orpower supply and Optical Terminal Boxes< GPON network: Optical passive network for the division of a fiber into several, in which saidelements allow to divide the optical signal of a fiber in several Lateral Exit - Lateral: section of the civil works network, located in the public domain orprivate, between the last manhole or registration chamber and the exit to the facadeor entrance to the interior of the building UUll: Real estate unit. Home Vertical: segments of the Dispersion Network that group the connections ofuser in a section (Although we usually refer to the vertical as thevertical segment of the scattering network, the term is also applicable to theexisting horizontal segments in said network)

3. MATERIALS

3.1 EXTERNAL JUNCTION BOXES

Junction boxes are the passive network elements used in pipelinesunderground and overhead lines to extend and branch fiber optic cables. Functionof the demand, type of cable and its use, different cables and elements will be usedinternal management. In the splice boxes it will be possible, not only to make network splicestrunk and distribution, but it will be possible to install splitters, network dividers of thethe G-PON network, necessary to provide the fiber optic capillarity necessary in this type ofdeployment. As a general rule, the first level splitters will be installed, reserving the secondsplitter level to optical termination boxes. In particular cases, they may be installedsecond level splitters when the installation of the optical termination box cannot beperform.

Exterior junction boxes must comply with:

Minimum degree of protection IP65 for facade mounting

It must indicate its dimensions, as well as the cubic capacity

The envelope (base and cover) will be made of plastic material molded in polymerthermoplastic, flame retardant according to UL-94: V-0, impact, weather and light resistantsolar, stabilized against UV radiation

It must allow its closure and subsequent reopening without special tools with aclip-type system

Installation in line with the distribution cable, allowing continuity andsegregation

Indicate in the Excel section of "Complete Description", the number of traysavailable and capacity of fusions per tray up to a total of 144 fusions

It will have up to 4 universal access type cable entry / exit ports.The type of connector and diagram of the possible configuration will be indicated

The supply of the box must include all the necessary elements for its assembly inWall

Possible alternatives for:

 Type 2 junction box for 288 fo in pitch (144 mechanical plugs)

Junction box Type 3 for 576 fo in pitch (288 mechanical plugs)

It must be documented through a certificate by an accredited laboratory, level oftightness, impact test and tensile test, fireproof tests and levels ofresistance to sunlight

It must come with assembly instructions in Spanish

3.2 OPTICAL TERMINAL BOXES (CTO)

The Optical Termination Box is the interconnection point between the drop cable and theRiser or Drop cable for subscriber access. It can also be used as a point ofcross-connection and transition between the G-652d fiber trunking cable and theAttached to customers with G-657A2 fiber. Depending on the type of building, this type ofThe box may be installed outdoors, with capacities limited to 16 final fo, or in theindoor, with boxes of capacity up to 64 f. Outdoor boxes can be installed infacades, outdoor closet poles, etc., and even indoors, while those indoorsThey can only be installed in closed places, common rooms of buildings, which are notexposed to the elements.The indoor multi-operator set will allow, in deployments inside buildings, to givetermination solution and shared connection of subscribers between operators, throughindependent modules for the termination of the cables of each operator, and connection of thevertical subscriber network.The location of these sets will be in the RITI, in those cases of buildings that havedevelops an ICT, or common areas of the property, (garages, utility room, lobbies),for cases in which, without ICT, there is the possibility of sharing the vertical network ofcabling. Operators' boxes may be attached to the subscriber network box according tothe deployment that cover the building.

3.2.1 Main characteristics of the external CTO for 16/8/4 clients

This type of boxes must comply with:

  • Minimum degree of protection IP65.
  • 16 robust connectors, with sealing caps (it will be appreciated that they are captive)▪ It must indicate its dimensions, as well as the cubic capacity.
  • It will not require opening to register a client.
  • The envelope (base and cover) will be made of thermoplastic polymer, fireproof according toUL-94: V-0, resistant to impact, weathering and sunlight, stabilized againstUV radiation.
  • It must allow its closure and subsequent reopening without special tools with aclip-type system.
  • Installation / mounting: Vertical or in line with distribution cable.
  • Indicate in the Excel section of "Complete Description", the configuration of ports ofcable entry, as well as its configuration. For example: “You will haveup to 4 cable entry ports. Each port allows 1 cable from 9 to 16mm or up to 28mm multiport cables x port. In initial configuration comes with two cable sealsin passing, 1 multi-cable port (2 x multi-port) and a blind plug ”.
  • Indicate in the Excel section of "Complete Description", the storage lengthminimum cable pitch: For example: "2.5m x 7 microtubes".
  • Minimum number of trays 6: (≥16 fusions x tray). It will be valued that they areremovable and rotate individually and as a block, as well as if they have a systemvertical self-supporting to allow operation on the rest.
  • Must include 1x4 or 1x8 or 1x16 splitter and possibility for two additional splitters. Onfunction of the spliter installed, it must be supplied with the fibers of thesubscriber merged in increasing order.
  • It must be documented by certificate:o Tightness level,o Mechanical tests (Impact, traction, torsion, bending, and static loads)o Vibration testso Climatic tests according to IEC 61300-2 (Cycles of Temperature, Hr%, Immersion in water,Salt mist, resistance to aggressive media, UV rays, dust)
  • Must include approved Orange exterior label
  • The position of each client port must be identified by stamping.
  • It must include all the necessary elements for its wall mounting.
  • It must come with assembly instructions in Spanish.

3.2.2 Main features 4/8 ports remote terminal box

This type of boxes must comply with:

  • Remote terminal box for 4/8 ports with robust connector and 50/100 / 150m of cablepreconnected with a minimum degree of protection IP65
  • The envelope (base and lid) will be made of thermoplastic polymer, fireproof according toUL-94: V-0, resistant to impact, weathering and sunlight, stabilized againstUV radiation.
  • It will allow mounting on the facade and pole in vertical and horizontal position.
  • The inner trays must be fixed at 90º to allow their manipulation withoutfall by gravity.
  • It must allow its closure and subsequent reopening without special tools with aclip-type system.
  • It must be documented by certificate:o Tightness level,o Mechanical tests (Impact, traction, torsion, bending, and static loads)o Vibration testso Climatic tests according to IEC 61300-2 (Cycles of Temperature, Hr%, Immersion inwater, Salt Mist, resistance to aggressive media, UV rays, dust)
  • Must include approved Orange exterior label
  • The position of each client port must be identified by stamping
  • It must include all the necessary elements for its wall mounting.
  • It must come with assembly instructions in Spanish

3.2.3 Main characteristics of Interior CTO

The design will make possible the coupling between the boxes of different operators, forming aset, and the box of the subscriber network allowing the passage of the connection wiring ofeach operator to the customer network, according to the agreements of the main operators,constituting a shared interconnection point.Orange establishes three typologies, for which it will use different models, taking into accountthat the Customer module must be dimensioned 100%:▪

  • Buildings with more than 16 BUs and up to 24 BUso CTO Client module, up to 24 building wiring termination UUIIs.o CTO Operator module up to 24 UUIIs with termination of the GPon network of theOperator.
  • Buildings with more than 24 UUIIso CTO Client module, up to 48 building wiring termination UUIIs.o CTO Operator module up to 48 UUIIs with termination of the GPon network of theOperator.
  • Buildings up to 16 UUIIs.

This type of boxes must comply with:

Made of LSZH plastic material and enveloping fireproof quality (UL-94): V-0, it mustincorporate a folding adapter panel, to allow access without risk, bothfront and rear. It will incorporate a hinged door in the passage channel ofhoses, which inside allows the labeling of the ports.

Minimum degree of tightness IP34

It must indicate its dimensions.

In accordance with the Vertical Agreement for Buildings with more than 16 UUlls.

The cable access system will have up to 4 cable entries with maximum diameter16mm and will be arranged on the lower part of the left side of the module and mustallow the access of cables of the Riser Interior type of up to 48 fo, incorporatingfixing elements of the cables that guarantee the fastening of the roof and aramid.In the 24 UUII version, they may have 2 or 3 depending on the model.▪ Capacity to host 48 customer ports.

The connection panel will be pivoting, with its axis of rotation at the bottom of the box and theadapters will be located in the patch cord channel.

The opening of the front door will have 2 fixing positions at 90º and 180º. It will allow yourtotal opening with other boxes installed in its lower part.

The opening of the hose channel will be articulated in 2 leaves.

The adapters must be type SC / APC and pigtails of 900µm and 2m in length withG657A2 fiber and SC / APC Grade B connectors (According to IEC).

The fiber must be G657A2, both for splitters and Singlemode pigtails.

  • Capacity to house up to 3 splitters.▪ You must have a 1x16, 1x8, 1x4 splitter, pre-installed and wired to ports.
  • The fusing trays will normally be in a horizontal position on the lid of theaccess, once opened, to simplify the work of fusion of the wiring andguarantee its final quality.
  • Ability to change the section of the 64 FO cable, for the possible breakage of theoperator layout.
  • It must be documented by certificate:o Mechanical tests (Impact, traction, torsion, bending and static loads)o Climatic tests according to IEC 60068-2-xx (Tª and Hr% fundamentally)o Capable of withstanding 500 cash opening and closing operations without damage▪ It must include all the necessary elements for its assembly.
  • It must include all the elements necessary for its operation according to regulationsOrange (spliter, pigtails, connectors etc ..)
  • It must come with assembly instructions in Spanish.
  • Must include approved Orange exterior labelEach box will come in initial basic configurations according to the type of building and forecastspenetration of Orange and the elements will be available to adapt to each building andsubsequent growth in penetration.

All solutions must have a storage tray, well incorporated inthe module, or by installing the module additionally.This box must allow the storage of tubes in passage.The operator CTO will have similar characteristics with the difference that the latterIt also has the necessary elements to house up to three splitterspreconnected in tray. 1x4, 1x8, 1x16, and 1x32 dividers can be installed. The outputs ofthe splitters will be terminated in a SC / APC type connector. The length of the tails ofThe output of the dividers will be 50cm. and in diameter 900 microns, which allows access to the panelof couplers of the client module and properly manage surplus. They will be installed inthe trays, and one Splitter per tray.The operator's CTO will allow, at least, the storage of 2m of 7 tubes in step andincorporates enough trays to be able to change the section of a 64 fo cableIn addition, the module will allow the passage of operator cable tubes or individual fibers,suitably protected, by the upper and lower part of the same, towards another module ofannex operator, in cases where an expansion of the operator's network is necessary(installation of additional dividers). When a second installation is requiredoperator module, the access of the ropes or cords of this last module to theClient modules will be carried through the right side of the previous operator module.The collapsed CTO will have the top of the patch panel to finish up to 16uuii, and the 16 positions at the bottom of the patch panel to finish the tails ofConnectorized splitter

3.3 JUNCTION BOXES of FLOOR

This type of boxes must comply with:

  • Minimum degree of protection IP30
  • The material will be LSZH plastic with fireproof quality (UL-94): V-0.
  • Inner plastic cover to limit access to the splice area, leaving visibleonly the adapters in a first box opening.
  • It must indicate its dimensions.
  • Will come pre-assembled with 4/8 SC / APC adapters with Laser shutter and pigtails of900µm and 2m in length with G657A2 fiber with SC / APC Grade B connectors (According toIEC) .Tilting heads that are protected inside the box by means of a cover.pivoting.
  • Will include 4/8 G657A2 pigtails with low loss connectors.
  • The inner trays must be fixed at 90º to allow their manipulation withoutfall by gravity.
  • It will include splice trays to change the riser cable section (48 fibers).
  • It must be documented by certificate:o Mechanical tests (Impact, traction, torsion, bending, and static loads)
  • Must include approved Orange exterior label
  • It must include all the necessary elements for its wall mounting.
  • It must come with assembly instructions in Spanis
